A Study on Histocompatibility Antigen Distribution in HBsAg Positive Chronic Hepatitis Patients

Abstract
To evaluate the association between HLA specificities and chronic hepatitis patients with positive HBs antigen, 31 Korean patients were examined and the results were analyzed by statistical methods such as relative risk, etiologic fraction and preven-
tive fraction.
The results were as follows:
L The relative risk values of HLA-B27, B51, B13, Bw 55, DR7 were
statistically significant.
2. The possibility of cirrhotic change was significantly high in the patients who possess
HLA-B51, Cw7, DRw9 and DQw3.
3. The possibility of cirrhotic change was significantly low in the patients who possess
HLA-A3, B13 and DR7.
4. The susceptibility to the hepatitis B virus may be not associated with specific allele
of HLA.
5. The preventive fraction of DQwl was significatly high and this low phenotype
frequency suggested a protective role of DQwl against chronic active hepatits type B,
